Welcome to our comprehensive webinar series, designed specifically for parents of Black children navigating the British education system. About the Series:

Our series spans six sessions over three weeks, offering a deep dive into critical topics impacting Black children in education today. Each session is crafted to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to support your child’s educational journey. Participants will be grouped into mastermind groups to foster close, supportive networks and will engage in active discussions through frequent breakout rooms. Additionally, participants can opt into three monthly calls following the completion of the course for continued support and guidance.

1: The Experience of Black Children within the British Education System Explore the unique challenges and experiences faced by Black children in the UK educational landscape. Understand the systemic issues, implicit biases, and cultural dynamics that influence their educational outcomes.

2: Exploring the Purpose of Education Delve into the fundamental objectives of education from a parental perspective. Discuss what we want our children to experience and achieve through education. Critically assess whether the current education system meets these objectives and explore how we, as a community, can build systems to fulfill these aspirations for our children.

3: Troubleshooting SEN Matters Gain practical advice on navigating Special Educational Needs (SEN) within schools. Understand your child’s rights, the school’s obligations, and effective strategies for ensuring your child receives the support they deserve.

4: Understanding the Rules Regarding Suspensions and Exclusions Learn about the legal framework governing suspensions and exclusions in schools. Equip yourself with the knowledge to challenge unfair practices and advocate for just outcomes for your child.

5: Exploring Alternative Educational Approaches Discover various educational alternatives such as homeschooling, world schooling, co-schooling, and other innovative schooling options. Learn from experts and parents who have successfully implemented these approaches.

6: Expert Panel Discussions  Engage in panel discussions with education experts to gain further insights and solutions tailored to your challenges.
